Troy Lee Jenkins
Troy Lee Jenkins, 89, of Beckley died Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley. Born July 15, 1930, in Lowe, WV, he was the son of the late Carl Lee Jenkins and Earnie Rinehart Jenkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Roy Jenkins; brother, Chester Jenkins; sister, Rosemary Jenkins; and stepdaughter, Carmela Thompson Smiley. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ann Jenkins of Beckley; stepson, David Thompson and wife Kathy of Pineville; granddaughters, Lindsay Roberts and husband Dustin, Chelsea Thompson and companion Larry Thompson, and Amy Stiltner and her sons Cole and Carter; brother, Arthur Jenkins; sister, Margaret White; and special niece, Cheryl Reece and her children. Troy served six years in the United States Army and was in Korea during the Korean War. He was in the 7th Infantry Division where he fought in several battles and received several citations and medals for his service. When he returned to the U.S., Troy moved to Chicago, IL, and lived there for 35 years. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad and the New York Central. Having retired in 1991, he moved back to West Virginia and married Evelyn A. Thompson in 1993. Troy was a member of First Christian Church in Princeton and he was a member of the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Troy enjoyed traveling, skiing, nature, the beach, boating, fishing and meeting with fellow veterans. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Reverend Steve Janning officiating. The West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Wednesday. In keeping with Troy's wishes he will be cremated after the service and inurned at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Online condolences may be made by visiting
