She was born February 12, 1928 in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Joyce was the first of 11 children of Myrtle Sanger Pittman and Dempsey Pittman of Glen White.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lewis Hopkins; her only son, Raymond Hopkins; brothers, Guy, Al, Roger and infant brother, James.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Diana Hopkins; three granddaughters, Melissa Carnell, Cassy Goddard, and Emily Foster; eight great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Charlie (Lois) Pittman; five sisters, Violet Snyder, Rena Perkins, Faye Lynch, Sue Richardson, Beverly (Frank) Wolfe; sisters-in-law, Alice Pittman and Donna Pittman; brothers-in-law, Russell (Mary) Hopkins and Doug Hopkins; numerous nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly just as she loved them.

Joyce was a wonderful homemaker and great cook. Her peanut butter fudge was famous at family reunions as well as her special banana pudding. She was a loyal, long-time member of Oak Grove Christian Church, where she was loved by all. In spite of her physical disabilities, she was always the sweetest person and had a smile for everyone. Joyce is rejoicing today in Beulah Land, where she has so longed to be. We love you and will miss you always.
